Ryan Becker, Founder

Millennial. Chattanooga, TN.

Ryan is a Seventh-day Adventist ministry leader currently residing in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Born and raised in Orlando, Florida, he first moved to Tennessee in 2011 to attend Southern Adventist University. While working on his theology degree, Ryan got involved in a number of youth-focused projects, including the university’s Engage Ministries and the Southern Union of Seventh-day Adventists’ Young Adult Ministry. These early works deepened Ryan’s love of creating honest, open conversations regarding religion and social activism.

In his spare time, you can catch Ryan hanging out with his little button of a corgi or working on a sundry list of ministry-based projects. His most ambitious endeavor to date is to eat at a Chipotle in all 50 states— only 29 states left!

Born and raised in Kettering, Ohio, Kevin attended Spring Valley Academy and graduated Southern Adventist University with Bachelor’s degrees in International Business. During his time at SAU, he created the comedy sketch show Studio 4109: LIVE and starred as “Ashpenaz” in the 2014 Oshkosh Camporee: Daniel (and its documentary film) After interning for several years with Kettering Health Network in marketing and communications, he went into the booming Atlanta film industry. Kevin worked on major film and TV sets alongside A-list actors, musicians, directors, and producers; learning the industry’s best practices to help the church produce better storytelling. After having conversations about faith on set, he realized both worlds had a lot to gain from each other.

Jill Evans, Editor

Baby Boomer. Kettering, OH.

Jill Evans.jpg

I have been an educator since, almost, the beginning of time and have been teaching English and Communication at Kettering College in Kettering, Ohio since 1982. I have loved almost every minute of it. I was born in Brooklyn, NY and raised on Long Island and those roots run deep; I live happily in Ohio, but, to be honest, my heart has never left New York. I am an avid reader and Netflix binger with a special interest in TV SciFi and fantasy, believing that Buffy and The Doctor have much to teach us. I have been married to my husband David for almost 28 years and we have one daughter, Alexis. Alex teaches Math at Baldwin High School in Wailuku, Hawaii, and since I (really) failed algebra in 9th grade, I am especially proud of her.

I Grew up in Orlando Florida, then moved to Chattanooga, TN so that I could study theology at Southern Adventist University. I am currently pursuing a Masters in Divinity at Andrews University in Berrien Springs MI. When I finish my Masters, I will move back to Florida to pastor a church full-time. Kristen is an English instructor at a community college in Spokane, WA, where she lives with her husband and two children.

Emily Weber, Writer

Millennial. Redlands, CA.

Emily Weber.jpeg

A writer and a sasser, Emily brings her incorrigible, millennial attitude into everything--like it or not. She lives in southern California, works in nonprofit marketing and is constantly shoving too many irons in the fire. She podcasts on the side, watches too many sitcoms and only drinks coffee Monday through Thursday. If you need something or someone roasted, she’ll come in clutch.

Rachel Beaver, Writer

I’m currently pursuing a degree in public relations from Southern Adventist University. During the school year I work as a writer in the school’s Marketing and University Relations department as well as creating content for the Southern Accent newspaper. I spend the summer as an intern in the communications department at the Carolina conference of Seventh-day Adventists. In my free time I like to write stories, cook, paint, spend time with family and friends, and volunteer in my local church.

Josh Stevens, Distributor

Gen X. Kettering, OH.

Raised as a PK (pastor’s kid) within the SDA church, Joshua attended Spring Valley Academy and grew up in the Adventist hub of Dayton, OH. He attended Washington Adventist University and Southern Adventist University. In 2001, the 9/11 attacks had a profound impact on him, leading to an uphill battle with depression. During this time he became estranged from the SDA church until 16 years later when, like Paul, he experienced a road to Damascus/prodigal son moment and rededicated his life to Christ. Now he seeks out ways to help change the world, one person at a time.
